Path of Idle Priest Support Build: Stabilize a Combat Line

A Patch 1.0.9 Priest support workflow for healing, shields, buffs, summons, mana pressure and multi-team progression, based on full-release player reports.

Use this page when a line has enough nominal damage but dies inconsistently, summons absorb healing, or a second and third team cannot remain stable while farming.

A support build is measured across the whole line: first death, health and mana stability, clear consistency and whether damage dealers stay active.

Quick Answer

  • Evaluate Priest by line survival, uptime and consistency—not personal damage alone.
  • Steam players repeatedly report Totem and Slime-based support packages, but exact skills and sets must be verified in the current client.
  • Add the support effect that matches the first failure: healing, shielding, buff uptime, mana stability or extra bodies.
1

Start With the Line's Missing Support Job

If the frontline dies steadily, test healing or shielding. If damage dealers stop because resources collapse, test mana or another uptime support. If a line is overwhelmed before it can act, summons or control may buy time. If the line already survives, adding more support may only extend a failed Fatigue run. Define the first failure before choosing a Priest package.

What Full-Release Players Are Actually Using

Multiple Steam discussions report Totem Priest, Slime Rain healing, buffs and shield-oriented support in successful progression teams. One all-class thread describes a Priest using Totem and Slime sets alongside Hunter and Mage; a team discussion describes an INT-focused Slime/Totem Priest with buffs and no damage masteries. These reports establish real player use, not an official best build or permanent set requirement.

3

Do Not Judge Priest by Personal Damage

Measure first death, team health and mana stability, damage-dealer uptime, clear consistency and clear time. A support character may appear weak in a personal damage total while preventing the main damage dealer from losing actions or dying. Conversely, a Priest that adds impressive effects but fails to address the actual death is not solving the line.

4

Watch for Healing and Summon Conflicts

A Chapter 15 player reported healing being diverted into summons and harming tank stability. That is a player-observed problem, not a universal rule. If your line uses many summoned bodies, watch where healing and shields actually go in the current client. Compare the same encounter with one summon source removed or one support effect changed before abandoning the entire class.

5

Build Support Around the Damage Plan

A physical team and an elemental team may need different buffs. A Mage may need resource uptime and protection; a summon-heavy Hunter or Warrior may need effects that remain valuable across more bodies. Verify each support tooltip, target rule, range and duration in Patch 1.0.9. The public sources do not document every targeting priority or exact coefficient, so do not assume a buff applies to an ally until the current UI or test shows it.

6

A Support A/B Test

Use a stage where the line sometimes succeeds and sometimes fails. Record first death, health and mana state, damage-dealer uptime and clear result. Change one Priest skill group, set package or position. Repeat the attempt. Keep the change when consistency improves without pushing the fight into an unsolved damage wall. Restore the baseline when the new effect looks active but the original failure remains.

7

Evidence Limits

This page does not claim that Totem/Slime is the only viable Priest package, that buffs stack in every combination, or that one attribute distribution is universally correct. Those conclusions require current retail tooltips and controlled tests for the exact character, equipment and patch.

Evidence Sources

Community builds prove that a setup was reported or demonstrated, not that it is universally optimal. Recheck Patch 1.0.9 tooltips before spending scarce resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Priest build in Path of Idle?

Steam players commonly report Totem and Slime-based support, but no official permanent best build exists. Choose healing, shielding, buffs or resource support based on the line's first failure.

Why does my Priest look weak on the damage screen?

Personal damage does not show prevented deaths, shields, healing, buffs, mana uptime or extra actions enabled for the main damage dealer.

Can summons interfere with healing?

A player reported that problem in a Chapter 15 setup. Observe current targeting in your own line and run a one-variable comparison before treating it as universal behavior.
