How to use this quick-start planner
Choose the symptom that best describes the current run rather than the upgrade that looks most exciting. If the frontline falls early, investigate survival, requirements, and support coverage. If the line survives but cannot finish, compare damage synergy and useful equipment effects. If an upgrade is unavailable, trace the missing material to Journey, Exploration, the Market, or a town building. Change one variable and retest the same stage. A controlled comparison gives better information than replacing recruits, talents, equipment, and automation rules at the same time.
Town-building decision guide
The Prison matters when recruit choice or quality limits the roster. The Temple supports level and Baptism progression. The Workshop becomes valuable when equipment is the clear reason a combat line cannot advance. Warehouse and Market investment improves storage, review, and trading workflows. Follow Monument objectives before trying to maximize one building, because those tasks introduce systems in an intended order and return useful resources. After the tutorial phase, spend toward the bottleneck you can describe in one sentence; if the next purchase does not address that sentence, save the material.
Safe automation checklist
Version 1.0.8 reworked offline resources, added combat auto configuration, and made offline rewards scale gradually with Worshiper level. Version 1.0.7 had already expanded Market, Prison, Outlands, and Exploration automation. Enable one rule, watch a complete cycle, and inspect what was bought, recruited, replaced, or discarded. Leave spare storage and resource capacity before a long idle period. Automation repeats the rule you supplied; it does not know whether that rule matches the next progression goal.
What this guide will not guess
Launch patches are changing skill behavior, equipment, crafting, drops, and progression. This planner does not invent rune recipes, hidden drop rates, permanent class tiers, or undocumented coefficients. Exact numbers should come from the tooltip in your installed build and the latest developer announcement. SteamDB helps confirm public version history, while gameplay video can show interface context; neither replaces the current game for a numerical claim. Each linked article identifies its verification patch and official sources so you can separate durable strategy from version-sensitive details.
